Your recent email asking for $5.00 dollars seems to us to be somewhat one sided, somewhat biased and a bit inflammatory. If our new President has any hope of changing the national climate and direction groups such as ours will need to act more calmly. To prepare the country for achievable change we should be presenting balanced thoughtful points of view, and acknowledging the existence of reasonable arguments from the other side, and from other stake holders.
So, I've interspersed some comments under each statement in your email:

What if this holiday season, five dollars could buy you some peace of mind?

* What if it meant that the credit card companies couldn’t arbitrarily jack up your interest rate and fees for no reason whatsoever?

In our free economy businesses are allowed to set prices at a point that allows them to be profitable and to earn a fair rate of return for stockholders. Credit card companies usually have a reason behind why rates go up. Please acknowledge that, and don't assume they are the enemy.

* What if it meant your health insurance premiums and deductibles would stop skyrocketing? Or you wouldn’t be denied coverage for a pre-existing condition and could see a doctor when you needed one?
There is no free lunch. If we want the high tech medical care, and exotic drug treatments someone has to pay the bill. Please acknowledge that fact of life. We all need to accept that there are limits to how much our medical system can afford to provide

* What if it meant that the food and toys you buy for your kids would be free of dangerous chemicals?
Clearly this problem needs attention, however accidents will always happen and as long as toys are made in mass quantities, and in factories by humans we will always be a bit exposed. When I make my own wood toys from the lumber I harvest from an organic forest then perhaps those toys will be free of dangerous chemicals. Provided I've washed my hands and sterilized the tools.
